Matt has over 20 years of professional experience in the marine industry but he was working on cars and boats with his father and grandfather long before he could legally drive either one. Growing up on Lake Minnewashta, he and his cousin would row the family's fishing boat around the point before starting up the old 7-horse motor so grandpa wouldn't know they were breaking the rules. His problem-solving skills and love for making things run evolved into a career that has led him to be a respected and trusted adviser to customers and co-workers alike. His extensive manufacturer-led trainings with many brands of boats and motors and expertise in older models some shops no longer service brings a unique value to the boating community in this land of lakes.
Matt is both technician and owner at Excelsior Boat Works; he has lived and worked in the southwest metro his entire life. In fact, he and his family live in the house in which he (and his father) grew up. He is a retired fire fighter, father of two boys and enjoys weekends on the lake and traveling with his family.
